After mastering health informatics and data science in the classroom, you will take your knowledge into the field, working with an industry or government mentor organization to address a real-world challenge.
The summer Capstone Project is the culmination of your studies, and a launchpad for your career. Our students complete capstone work with some of the biggest names in health and technology: AstraZeneca, the FDA, Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, Genentech, ICF consultancy, MedStar Health, Pfizer, and more.
Choosing Your Project
The program matches each student with a mentor from industry or government. Students are required to identify a problem and propose a practical solution that leverages what they’ve learned during the two semesters in the program. Students will be supervised by the academic advisor and a host preceptor/mentor. The project will typically cover the conceptualization, analysis, design, and production of a working, functional prototype that serves as a proof of concept.
